Hub Furniture is thrilled to present the work of Hannah Fox for the very first time in their Melbourne showroom with her upcoming exhibition, Last Phase.
Hannah delves further into themes of nature and landscape with this body of work yet conceptually, it’s the space that exists between day and night and the quiet changes it brings that gives Last Phase its essence. Hannah is inspired by the contrasts and subtle light shifts that occur during this magical, transient time of day; the last phase before evening.
Hannah works in gestural mark-making activity with well-honed expressive instincts to colour, layering and composition. Her paintings invite the viewer to consider nature through her eyes thanks to an abstract representation of light, texture and shape.
Her collective inspiration is the allure of nature, the subtleties of the landscape and what is overlooked in the everyday. She draws upon remembered places and images in her mind to create new visual experiences; a concept that immediately drew Hub Furniture Director Jacqueline Foti-Lowe to her work.
‘I’ve lived with one of her works for many years and it represents for me the transition between the demands that everyone can make all day and that private time where family take over. Her work sits as a beautiful and delicate reminder that time is in constant movement and no matter what, that time of transition from day to night is coming, stable, reliable and steady and to be there as often as I can, to slow down, not to miss it, because it is actually magical.
