Coco Flip: Honey and Sequence Collections

This year at Denfair, Coco Flip will be launching their two new collections at stand 511 – Honey and Sequence. The Melbourne based furniture and lighting design studio have taken inspiration from the Art Deco movement for their stand design – two large archway entrances welcome visitors into the V-grove clad stand and a huge circular opening in the ceiling references the architectural work of Roy Grounds. Arthur G Furniture Sale

We recently visited the Arthur G factory to check out their full range ahead of the upcoming sale this Saturday and Sunday (1-2 June). We were so excited to visit their Huntingdale factory and get a peek behind the scenes of this 35+ year old Melbourne institution. Not many businesses can boast that their works have been hand crafted in Melbourne since the 1970s, and that’s something that makes Arthur G truly special. We’ve put together a range of mini collections to showcase some of our favourite items that are going to be on sale this weekend (up to 70% off!), but you’ll have to check it out in person for the full range!

Sense of Self

We are so excited for the new bathhouse and wellness concept, Sense of Self (SOS) set to open in Collingwood in Spring, 2019. The co-founders Mary Minas and Freya Berwick, aim to transform Australia’s spa and wellness offering by bringing a “no bullshit” approach to bathing and relaxation.

Repeated studies have shown that low social connection and stress is an epidemic: more damaging to our health than smoking, obesity or high blood pressure [source]. This is combined with recent reports [source] that the culture of self-improvement and performance driven by social media is further damaging our mental wellbeing and body image.

X-Materiality // Installation by Tsar X Byzantine X Luke

X-Materiality is a collaboration between TSAR x Byzantine Design x LUKE Furniture as a result of various installations displayed in the TSAR Carpets showroom and Luke Furniture showroom, both located on High Street in Windsor.

Through thoughtful collaboration and experimentation, different materials from each specialty industry represented by Byzantine Design, TSAR Carpets and LUKE Furniture have been brought together for the first time and being placed in novel, unexpected settings.
We particularity like the range of textures, layer and colour combinations to carry a ‘deep sea’ them through each setting. The blending of materials transitions smoothly with the eye, creating organic and curious experiences to engage, delight and push design boundaries.
The installations are engaging and inspiring, the result of playful collaboration and experimentation between three leading interior suppliers passionate about local design. All items displayed here are for sale, or can be custom made to order.

Lucy Glade-Wright says goodbye to Art Deco gem

Our good friends at Hunting For George let us know that founder Lucy Glade-Wright is sadly saying goodbye to her beautiful Art Deco apartment in Armadale.
This gives us the chance to have a peek behind the iconic facade designed by architect Stuart Hall in 1940 and see how Lucy has made this well-loved heritage building her own.

Externally, Lucy has transformed the property with a fresh paint job in crisp white, and returned the building to its former glory with a Palm Springs inspired garden now wrapping around the curved block.
